2011 November Notes:

Our 72 hour passage from La Paz to Banderas Bay was thankfully uneventful.  Light NW winds and swells from the west kept us moving along nicely.  We sailed without the motor for about 17 hours; then kept a steady 5.0 kts motor-sailing which got us into Banderas Bay at the light of day on November 2nd.

Not knowing exactly when we were getting back to Puerto Vallarta, we made arrangements with Carolyn and Larry Dunn to stay at Casa Riyo whether we were there or not.  As it turned out, we arrived two days ahead of them!  We had a great time and the days sped by.

We checked out the malecón renovation with the Dunns.  The improvements add a nice touch and are pleasing to the eye:  wide steps down to the beach is such a good idea; several statues have been moved to slightly different locations; a lower walkway closer to the sand makes the walk interesting; large planting areas are filled with greenery; and the best part of all--NO cars!

Dick (Paradise Village Marina Harbormaster) and Gina celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on the beach at Paradise Village followed by dinner and dancing at the Xcaret in the main hotel.   Not only did the Markie clan arrive in huge numbers, but Gina's mother also came from the Philippines for the special event.  Among the several guests were Rak and Loa, artists from Mazatlan, and their family.  Their youngest daughter was the flower girl at the Markie wedding...she is now married with a young daughter!

The month ended on a sailing note:  We took a great group of friends sailing on the bay to Los Arcos for snorkeling and on to Las Ánimas for lunch at one of the many restaurants on the beach.  The group included:  Chris and Gwynneth from Halifax; Jeff, Mike, and Doug from Vancouver, BC; and Grant who helped skipper Amizade.

Our first month back in Banderas Bay proved to be a busy one, but thanks to good friends and family we had a wonderful welcome home.
