Where I stayed
We moved again today to the Watchman Campground, not far but it had power and everything was in need of a charge. We decided to ride the shuttle to the end of the road; Temple of Sinawava and work our way back to camp. There is a short riverside trail to the Temple of Sinawava and at the end of this trail you enter the Narrows where you are actually walking in the river as the canyon narrows.
The next stop, Big Bend had no trails but wonderful shots of the mountains.
Court of the Patriarchs is a quick stop, short trail for unobstructed views of the three large sandstone cliffs named for three towering figures of the Old Testament holding court over Birch Creek Canyon and that section of the Virgin River. In 1916 Frederick Vining Fisher, a Methodist minister, gave the religious names to the peaks.
On the left Abraham Peak (6890 ft), in the center Isaac Peak (6825 ft) and on the right, almost hidden behind Mount Moroni (5690ft), is Jacob Peak (6831 ft).
We had spent most of the day photographing the stops along the shuttle route. Utah Rocks!
On return to camp George walked the Watchman Trail that leads right from Visitor Center and offers a nice overview of the canyon and then we enjoyed dinner and sunset in camp.
