day at the very beautiful city of Durban, South Africa with a natural harbor, that is very busy and at the beginning of a violent sea region going down the coast. This area was visited by Vasco da Gama in 1497 on Christmas day and he named it "Natal", or Christmas in Portuguese. This is the southern end of the Zulu nation and many movies have been made here including Shaka Zulu about the war between the Boers and the Zulu nation. The last time we were here by land and visited a Zulu village where we saw native dances and daily life chores. The area is heavily populated with East Indian people and we had really hot Indian food here one night just a short walk from our hotel. We also went on Safari here, so on arrival we took the shuttle to Shaka Marine Land a theme park and shopping area on the beach. There was a freighter on the land that they were using as a restaurant. Since I had diarrhea that morning and we had no medication we went looking for a pharmacy and got the medication, which I quickly took with some water before looking over the shops
. Again we paid a coffee shop for internet service but never got on line. Since I was not feeling the greatest we took the next shuttle to the ship and I slept for about 3 hours that afternoon. I stopped having explosive diarrhea so we went to a vigil mass and returned our palms for disposal, then on to another formal night in the La Fontaine room. Today's theme was celebration day and everyone received a top hat mine was red and Mary Ann’s green so we looked sort of Christmassy, others at the table had blue, black and white.
We now have two sea days to reach Cape Town where we will again try to make it up Table Mountain. Peter our tablemate from Africa said that it all will depend on the weather.
