From Mercedes we took a bus to Corrientes. We had hoped to get a bus straight on to Salta but got stranded there for the day.

Despite there being literally dozens of bus companies, they all left for Salta around six in the evening. It seems crazy to us, with the idea that you should find a niche for your business drilled into our heads. Leaving at a different time of day to all the other buses seemed a pretty obvious niche to me, but never mind, it meant we got a few hours to explore the city.

Tog shopping
My old faithful bathing suit had finally given up the ghost, the elastic sagging and colours faded. Most importantly I had the feeling it might fall off in weak surf or energetic pool swimming, which is a terrifying prospect, so it was time for a new one One of many murals

. I didn't like my chances of finding a similar modest affair, with a bikini top more like a singlet and full bottom-covering briefs. Indeed tiny bikinis were all that was on offer.

No doubt spurred on by the nun comment in Venezuela (were I was accused of being one from my modest knee-length skirt and book reading) I decided to take the plunge into teeny tiny bikini territory. I draw the line at g-strings (I think of briefs as  a bra for ones bottom), which left me with what can only be described as quarter briefs: low cut around the waist and very high cut on the bottom. In fact the brief's front has more fabric than the back, but wearing them back-to-front looked okay so that's my plan.

I haven't worn them in public yet and am afraid it might be a case of...'she wore an itsy bitsy, teeny weeny pink and navy stripped bikini, so in the water she wanted to stay'... but we will see how brave I am.

After the shopping and some blissfully fast loading internet, we just had time to explore the riverside and the few murals around the city. Suffice to say Corrientes is making more of its riverfront than Buenos Aires is.
