Arrived in Oxford yesterday afternoon and was met on the train by Karin Goold, her partner Paul and Jill Porter, made a surprise appearance.  Went to their flat just north of Oxford and went to a chippy for fish and chips, then sat to watch the Innisfree talent show/my goodbye party while devouring a lovely greasy meal. Later we took the bus into the city center, went to a pub and put Jill on the bus for Birmingham. Karin led us on a shortcut to get home which took ages. I did get on the internet at her place and we all went to bed around midnight. Lots of good story telling of days at innisfree. It gets dark around 9pm and is light at 5am. We are on about the 55th parallel, according to Paul. Today we had a lazy morning and then they drove me to High Wickam at noon for my luncheon of Women Welcome Women Worldwide, the travel club I belonged to off and on for the last 20 years. There were about 122 of us there to celebrate the 25th anniversary - mostly from the UK, also France, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and 4 of us from the states. A lovely lunch of salmon, chicken, various salads, chocolate mousse and wine - no complaints. We then drove thru Oxford to a nice walk that I had remembered from living in Oxford with Sheldon in 1980 for a few months. The Marston Ferry Rd was still very nice and crosses the River Cherwell, where folks are punting and then stopping at a beautiful pub just on the river called the Victoria Arms. It was hot and sunny - a perfect day. Home to make Shepherd's Pie and plan my travel tomorrow, to Manchester.

Fish & Chips
Mmmm! Lotsa malt vinegar on my fish & chips, please.

Thanks, Nancy!
