Flying from Bariloche, Argintina to Puerto Montt, Chile to eventually get to Puerto Natales, Chile to start Torres del Paine!
We had eaten a fair bit of our supplies from Calgary on the last two hikes (mainly trail mix, juice crystals and peanut butter were low) so we needed to do some shopping in a larger Chilean town. It is impossible to buy peanut butter in Argentina, much to the dismay of many North Americans hiking!
In Puerto Montt we stayed at the Tren del Sur Hostel, which is very cool! The owner Mario has just got it up and going in the last year or so and he has used a lot of local wood (from old train tracks, the name of the hostel means ¨Train of the South¨. He directed us to a HUGE grocery store, and after about a 15min we came to a Jumbo grocery store which was like a larger Canadian Superstore! It had pretty much everything we needed, including peanut butter!
