Off to Patagonia again! This will be our longest trip to date, 6 weeks in length! After over a week of packing and planning, we are off! The weather in Calgary has begun to turn cold, with forcasts for later in the night of - 27 degrees C! We are happy to be flying south of the equator, but as we are waiting for our wings to be de-iced at the Calgary Airport we realize that we are an hour late in taking off! And we have a tight connection in Toronto to catch our flight to Santiago, Chile! As we both bit our nails on the plane and discussed likely having to miss our flight to Chile (and next flight to Bariloche, Argentina!), we somehow arrive in Toronto in time! The pilot flew the flight about 30min quicker than normal, and we made our flight with time to spare! After arriving in Santiago, Chile we connected with a LAN flight to Bariloche, Argentina and arrived to clear skies and temperatures of a balmy 25 degrees C. The town was filled with obvious hikers, many were Argentinian teens who had tiny backpacks and small silver sleeping mats rolled up on their packs. Bariloche has a Austrian flare to it, and is a huge skiing town in the winter. We had plans to hike the next morning in the Nahuel Huapi area and we packed and were off to sleep to try to correct our jet lag!
