first off, big thx to all who sent b-day wishes my way...muchas gracias!  Trip may or may not have been wondering why the hell I have a blog if I'm not actually blogging...bad facebooker, bad blogger...hmmm...tecnophobe perhaps? Jesus, will I soon be unable to change the time on the vcr!? Well if that didn't age me nothing will...oh wait, how about...Pong...ahhhh pong...
Truth is I've been hesitant to write due to some...ahhh, shall we say slight negativity emanating from this usual beacon of shiny happiness (I think a couple of people just had to reread that line to make sure they read it correctly). I don't really want to elaborate at this time, perhaps down the road after a bit of perspective has crept into my sick little brain I might divulge. It might even make for interesting reading but probably not. Here's just a wee sampling in the midst of my doom and gloom mood,   "more random this feels like a trip with no purpose. Less than 2 weeks in but still the doubts creep in. Chisa too as she admitted during our 1st bitch fest. The kitchen fiasco continues to cast a long, dark shadow. I know we've got to move on and stop blaming everything on that fucking reno hell project but logic and reality have of way of staying strangers for far too long..." Yikes! I read it and can't help but laugh at the drama and absurdity of it. Ok, on to way more interesting things such as finding a place to pee!!
Of the utmost importance when traveling- especially when one tends to enjoy a nice cold one every now and then- is finding a place to relieve one's self. In Prague or Praha as it's known in the land of the people who actually named the place, beer is everywhere (savoir faire is everywhere!) -delicious, sudsy, original Pilsner beer. There are many claims to who invented beer or where the first beers were quaffed and the Czechs certainly have a legit claim but wherever or whoever it was, I must admit to liking the Czech Pilsner. Today Chisa and I drank some delish Pilsner Urquell at the U zlateho tygra (At the Golden Tiger), one of the most Czech of the Czech pubs This place was apparently the favorite watering hole of Václav Havel and one of his mentors, writer Bohumil Hrabal and on Jan. 11, 1994 they brought Bill Clinton and Madeleine Albright here for a traditional Czech pub evening during Clinton's visit.  Mostly locals there with a smattering of tourists. We shared a table with Mark, an American from Chicago and 3 young Danish lads. Chisa couldn`t stop smiling at her good furtune at being seated with 3 blond Danish guys and in the spirit of things even drank some beer and was fine! We had a great time, sampled some fine beer cheese  and then off we went to wander the lovely, winding streets of Praha.
Of course having the wee bladder that I have and the seal having been broken in the pub, it wasn`t long before I was searching high and low for a`s a skill I tell you and I can sniff out a building with a washroom or a friendly resto or bar that will let me avail myself of their facilities. Another thing to look out for is McDonald's, perhaps the scourge of any self respecting traveller but man I do appreciate them when my knees are getting weak and I`m all twisted up like Peter Sellers doing the pee dance in 'The Party'. I found the Praha public library (libraries are gold) and later on walked into a Hyatt Hotel acting every bit the guest I wasn't and used their snazzy washroom.

We wandered some more and were getting mighty hungry so we stopped at a sausage and schnitzel stand  to sample some fried cheese and a chicken schnitzel. The order and food delivery exchange didn't go so well and we soon found ourselves in a strange argument with the byatch who served us due to her creative addition. Didn't stop us from enjoying the food though.

We decided to end the evening at a wonderful teahouse called Dobra Cajovna Great atmosphere - both regular chairs and table and areas with low tables, mats and small pillows, cool chill out place and with the some tres cool tunes - Easy Star All Stars dub version of Dark Side of the Moon called appropriately enough, Dub Side of the Moon.

Bye y'all

Remember Lao Tzu again -" A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving". So if you feel your trip has no purpose, you may just be on the right track. Sometimes it's best not to search for a purpose but to let it reveal itself to you - in good time.

Keep well my friends.

I agree. The purpose certainly isn't to work Monday to Friday 9 till 5 and to renovate the bathroom or getting curtains to match. Maybe the purpose really is to drink a new beer, find a place to pee and do a crazy dance along the way ... sounds like you're doing fine.

PS - i'm gonna be in Egypt for the first week of October. Are you guys around that part of the world then?
