last weekend we went over to the Yorke Peninsular n stayed in my friends Annette n Cass family shack at Hardwicke Bay, which was really nice. it was right on the beach so you could always hear or see the tide to'ing n fro'ing. it contained a nice ol oven similar to n Arga, which was lit for us to keep warm when the weather was not the best. this annoyed Cass the most for that meant it was too rough for him to be out fishing. what he did catch was good enough for us tho, some wonderful Calamari he fried up nicely. we all amused ourselves with booze n games. the latter was good for my friends son Jayke who managed to beat us at quite a few, but not so good for his mum who also had to amuse him in the bad weather when we were out. we did manage some lovely walks when we eventually rolled out of bed.
firstly we ventured further down the coast into Innes National Park, where we did a lovely walk after some greasy food to help with the hangover. this started near the information centre and reminded me of our walk at Cape Bridgewater in Victoria, but on a much smaller scale. unfortunately the rest of the park was 4wd access so we did not venture far after that. i went n looked at a tiny island called Chinaman's Hat, which was really pretty, but Rich decided to stay in the car n rest up before the drive back. once young Jayke was tucked up in bed n all the games were over i played solitaire while everybody else watched a film.
the next day we got up with an even worse hangover, n played with Jayke n my friends dog for a bit while Annette n Cass got the shack in order. once this was done Rich n i said our goodbyes n took off for Port Vincent, a town with a beautiful bay. i was looking for a walk i read about earlier. at first we could not find it, but stumbled across one that then lead us into one that was even better. this was a coastal walk where you had to walk on several layers of mostly dry seaweed n clamber over rocks, before heading back along on top of the cliffs that we were just looking up from at the beach below. we got back just in time for some late lunch at the only cafe in town. we sat in the lovely garden with their parrots enjoying our toasted sandwiches discussing the fact that we still hoped to try n find the walk i read about earlier that day.
once lunch was over we ventured out again, finding some more walks, but still not the one i was after. however like the previous walks that day, the walk we did find lead us onto another one and then onto the one we were after, so we managed to walk 5 walks all up covering at least 8 ks. the walk i was after was wonderful, but so were the two previous ones, each different in there own way. the first one was very short and it took you around a garden. the second was a bit bigger and lead you down n around some bush. the third was the 5k walk i was after, which took you past some rocks which were approximately 260 million years old that had traveled from another part of South Australia when the continents were merged as Gondwana Land. they were smaller than i was expecting, but the walk above n around the coast was really gorgeous so this made up for my disappointment in their size. unfortunately the sun was heading down so we had to get back in the car n head home. just in time mind you, for as soon as we did it bucketed it down. we are now back in the Farm. xXx.
