Where to begin.. as the title suggests this is me summing up all the things that happened over the holidays. But let's start with my project, just wrote the last words to my 20-paged-project (!). I had two showcases in the end of December, just before the holidays. Surprisingly the Japanese students actually seemed to like Finnish humour, although many of them didn't understand the subtitles at all. Well, I'm happy about having finished my semester project, my brother as well I think :D Only a short presentation and then I'm finished with it for good.

On the 17th Tommy (my boyfriend, as you all know) came here. We spent some days looking around Kyoto (shops, sights, Subway and Starbucks mainly). Christmas eve came and went with nothing special, it didn't feel like Christmas here. I got an iPod Mini as an Xmas gift from Tommy (plus a calendar, soaps, day cream, candy, and all other stuff I'm forgetting to mention). We left for Tokyo on the 26th. After settling to our hotel (which was ok standard), the next day we went to see some skyscrapers in Shinjuku. We went to Tokyo Disneyland the day after that, and got to meet Mickey Mouse in person (yup, I have a picture :D) Awesome place, probably one of the best amusement parks I've been to. There weren't long queues because that day was FRIGGIN' COLD, but we it didn't bother as much. On Thursday we went to Shibuya (which we named "The Bullshit District" because it was so boring and dull-looking) and Ginza, where Tommy bought himself an iPod Mini for 20,000 yen, which is about 150 euros. Pretty cheap compared to Finland! Ginza was very posh district with stores like Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Dolce&Gabbana, Chanel and so on. On the last day we went to Harajuku, which really lives up for its name of place for alternative fashion - the shops were cool alright.

After Tokyo Tommy got really sick and was in bed with fever for about three days, so on New Year's Eve we couldn't do much - not that there would've been much to do anyway. No fireworks at all! Well, the remaining days we just hung around Kyoto and Seta. We bought a couple of movies by Hayao Miyazaki (the director of Spirited Away), Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke) and Tonari no Totoro (My friend Totoro) which both were really good.

Well, Tommy is in Finland now, and I'm still here for a few weeks. I have finished most of my school stuff, and my last class is supposed to be on 27th. Yesterday I bought myself two more of Hayazaki's movies "Howl's moving castle" and "Kiki's delivery service". I also bought some souveniers to take home. I feel like I could come home already, nothing much that would interest me here anymore. I was able to reschedule my flight, so Finland welcomes me back 28th of January.

My resolution for this year is to exercise more, gained a couple of kilos over the holidays. Happy New Year 2006 to everyone!
