Actually I went to Kobe (a couple of stations from Osaka) twice last week. On Wednesday, me and my Swedish roommate Josefine went to Kobe to meet Josefine`s friend and old Japanese teacher, Mariko. We went shopping in Chinatown and Mariko showed us a bit around the city. We went to the city hall, which has 25 storeys, and I got to take cool pictures of the whole of city. Kobe is actually right next to the sea. Anyways, we had fun, and Josefine and me managed with all the train switches and got home on time
Then on Friday me and Josefine packed our bags and threw them to the trunk of the car our tutor, Taka, had rented, and so we went driving to Kobe with Taka, Taka`s girlfriend and a classmate. We drove a bit on the mountains, but eventually ended up to a dead-end so we had to turn around. It was nice anyways, what a gorgeous view of the city. We spent the night at Taka`s girlfriend`s parents, and I got to sleep in a truly Japanese room with the tatami, the sliding doors and a futon.
The following morning we got into the car again and drobe two hours to see the Himeji Castle. It was one of the most gorgeous things Ive ever seen, and of course I had to the s*it loads of pictures. Hopefully you`re able to view some of them. All of the computers here are in Japanese so sometimes you just have to click buttons and hope for the best.
Anyways, my cold is nearly over, although I still have a bit of a coughing going on. Last week I actually had fever for a day or so, but it`s all good now. At the moment my biggest problem is the lack of sleep, but that`s my own fault, you shouldn`t stay up `til 3.30 am just writing a letter, now should you?
Buddhism class is the most interesting class I have at the moment, I`ve begun to understand how wrong the whole religion has been taught at school. It`s all actually pretty logical ;) Otherwise I don`t find the classes particularly challenging, but that`s okay. I`m not here to get s*it loads of credits. And that leads me to the subject of Japanese. I would like to think that my Japanese has improved, but I can`t be sure
That`s about it for this time. Sorry, I know there`s still many emails I haven`t replied to. It`s just me being busy or just plain lazy. For this week I have booked an appointment to a Japanese hairdresser - we shall see how that goes. Other than that I`m trying not to spend so much money this week, next month I`m most likely going to buy a new digital camera. The thing with my old one is that even though it takes ok quality pictures it`s been a struggle to load it`s batteries, and the thing is that the camera seems to be eating the batteries really fast. One short video clip and the batteries are almost empty. So screw you camera, I`m gonna buy a new lighter one with a bigger memory card and a good charger included, buah!
Peace and harmony and such,
your Finn in the land of strange customs.
