Extremes in water, wind and temperature have joined forces to produce this gorge in the Salt Mountain Range.

At 12,000 feet above sea level, crossing the gorge by foot was challenging and inspiring.  We walked between dried up river beds and calcium carbonate and lime rock formations.  And then there was the shallow, freezing water to cross.

Surrounded by the gorge’s steep rocky sides, we did quite well with the difficult footing and ascending an affixed “ladder” at the end of the day. Cosmo Andino organized the trip.
