Thank you to all who have posted and visited our travelpod. You made me cry, we love you all!
More adventures. We drove to Skamnia (total of 80km for the day)...around mountains on a dirt road the width of one car! We honk a lot! I get a shot of rescue remedy a few times for the parking, somehow, I always seem to park on a hill and freak until Sophie boosts my confidence and convinces me that I can make it out without crashing into the car in front of us. I park in peace, and come back to our car squished like a sardine box between 2 cars! I curse, take my rescue, and go...so far so good, can't wait for Daan to arrive and take over the driving, so I can appreciate the incredible scenery, we see Turkey, the sea, the breathtaking valleys, cattle, sheep...sometimes on the road. We've been transported to a world that is the same as it was 200 years ago. The buildings are endearing, the people warm and helpful. We feel so at home and welcomed.
We never found the remote spa we were in search of, but took a break at Skala Scamnia...I need an hour to read on the beach after a crazy drive! The children are catching on! They leave me be...sometimes after I have a meltdown...but they're getting better.
We had lunch at a restaurant called "under the tree"...litterally, under tree branches. We ate grilled octopus and calamari that had been fished that morning, the freshest we had ever tasted. We continued our journey onto Madamados which is known for their cheese nad pottery. We watched a potter make pottery, then parked and walked around the town. We stopped to have a frappe coffee in the middle of the tiny town (maybe 300 inhabitants). The police station was directly in front of the cafeneon, so there were 3 police officers having a coffee...they're pretty much paid to look good, 'cause they just sat and chatted with villagers...very pleasant.
Mack spent a day vomiting on Monday, Mia's day was Tuesday, all are well now. We're ready for more adventures, and can't wait to see daddy. Mia asks every day if daddy will come today.
Of course, the girls managed to find a shop where they bought yet another hairband! I bought them a Ravensburger puzzle for 7Euros... We find the prices here very reasonable.
Love to all,
Mylene, Mack, Katie, Mia and Sophie
