There is something romantic about the open road, especially in the Midwest. The climate is dry, hot, stunning and the road seems to stretch for miles and miles. (Note: from and air-conditioned car)

Before coming to Arizona (after a summer in an African Desert) I was warned about the heat. I figured, it's dry. How hot can it really be, I just spend the summer in the Kalahari, and this will be a walk in the park. Well, I was wrong. The summer in AZ is brutal. It can be best described as this: Crank your oven to 400F, bend over, open the door and stand there for 2 mins and you will start to understand the BLOODY HEAT. Now, they will tell you "it's a dry heat". But there liars, it might be dry, but it's still BLOODY HOT.

If you get a chance to come to AZ, I recommend you do. Especially while the desert is in bloom. The Kalahari took my breath away during the raining season and I can't wait to see the desert bloom again for a 2nd time this year.
