If you are planning on visiting Cape Town climbing Table Mountain is a must. There are many routes to travel up (cable car included), but I chose the Skelton gorge. The path way to the gorge starts in a breathtaking Garden at the Base of Table Mountain and then continues a steep steep path uphill. They say you should plan for any weather, bring lots of water and a map. So, I decided to wear jeans (what a mistake). By the time I had reached the top I had easily burned twice as many calories as I needed to 

The hike can be done in 4 hours if you ask a guide and 3 if you are in shape and don't take a thousand photos on the way up which was our case. Note: I should not have purchased a tonne for books for my mother before starting the hike

The route hugs a waterfall and dozens of breathtaking views along the way. Once you finally reach the top you can relax in the café and enjoy the view. I chose to take my shoes off and go bare foot while catching my breath and some sun.
