Hole in the Wall - Transkei

Ok, you are probable wondering why the hell any one would want to pay and walk for 3 hours to see a "hole in the wall". That is what I thought. It is exactly what it says, a huge hole that was formed from thousands of years of erosion from the sea. But there is one Catch. The walk to get there is through some of the most beautiful country side in South Africa. The Transkei "rural Africa if you will".
We booked our guide (and make sure you bother paying the 15 rand) and were off for our hike. The 3 hours stroll took up through several Xhosa Villages, many rolling hills (big hills I might add) and an exquisite coast line.
I suggest you bring some small change to purchase hand made jewelry along the way. The Xhosa children sell shell work and it is always nice to support the community (that means most of you will be getting some when I get back to Canada). There is not much to say about the hole, but I suggest anyone in the area takes the time to enjoy the view and some Xhosa cultureJ (Especially the bread ) More thumbnails ...
