NIAGARA GORGE
Hiking the Niagara Gorge is a secret to locals and should be done by anyone that is in the Niagara region. There are a few ways that you can accomplish this. 1) Buy a ticket and walk along a board walk (not recommended) or Hike (for free) to the bottom and enjoys the Niagara River up close and personal. The Gorge runs 12km between the Falls and Niagara Escartment at Queenston Heights and hugs the Niagara River. The river itself has Class 6 rapids that reach 68mph at the falls and 30mph downstream. If you follow the NiagarParkway (canada) or the RobertMosesParkway(US) you will find a set of stairs that take you to the bottom to begin your hike. Yesterday we hiked for 3 hrs along the river and took in the beauty of Niagara. The only advise I have is, Watch out for poison ivy and don't go in the water.
