Arrived at the train station in Verona and called my uncle Palle, my dad's older brother who lives there. He was at work but he sent one of my cousins to collect us. The last time I saw my twin cousins was 6 years ago in Sweden and neither of them spoke any English or Swedish, only Italian and German. Luckily Torsten had learnt a bit of English so some communication was possible although I must say the 30 min drive to their place was quite awkward!!

Palle took us in to Verona after dinner and we walked around the old town, very nice but Verona is a very big city, well 3 million people which I didn't realize. We also drove out to the Garda lake, it was dark but was still nice. It is a huge lake with really cold water as it comes from up in the mountains, there's a sort of a half island which goes out into a part of the lake which we drove out to. There was a castle there, a real storybook castle with a moat and everything, very cool!

The next day we went to Venice, only an hour and a half by train. Walked around, went into some cathedrals, talked to a man making morano glass for over an hour, bought some awesome little rolls from a place packed full of people yelling in Italian where you get your rolls and a tiny glass of wine and eat it leaning on wine barrels. Walked around a whole lot more, went to St Marcs square, saw some gondolas, had some pizza, walked around a bit more and caught the train back to Verona!
