Being a big fan of hot weather I had been in my element down in Greece so Zagreb was a bit of a shock to the system.. out with all the winter clothes. We were staying just a short walk away from the centre of town and the main square there was a fresh food market on every day just near our place where we generally started the day. We visited that impressive cathedral and st marcs church as well as the Zagreb city museum. We found a café with great coffee and Croatian food to try, the menu was all in Croatian but it didn't matter because our favourite waiter explained what they had and told us what we should try, he even went down stairs to get one of their huge loaves of homemade bread made in a pizza oven to show us how long they are! We went back there several times. We also visited a café/bar called Golf on a couple of occasions in order to try all the Croatian beer they had on offer.
We felt so comfortable in this city, being a bit more modern than other places we had been to and a bit more hip and happening that we ended up staying longer than planned. We went to the cemetery which was quite impressive big old trees, sourrounded by ivy covered walls. We went and saw the various war memorials before heading back into town.
