Tuesday afternoon Rebecca and I boarded a train to Malmö, Sweden´s third biggest city, located ca. 200kms south of Karlskrona. Approaching Malmö we passed by the university city of Lund and it occurred to me what was missing from Karlsrona.. the answer..... a whole generation. There are practically no 19 to 25 year olds in Karlskrona. There is no univeristy and getting a job is a challenge so everybody moves away. Out of all my friends and people I know from when I was 18, none of them live in K-na anymore, they all moved to Lund, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Uppsala etc. and only come home to visit in their summer holidays.

My cousin Linn and her boyfriend Linn live in Malmo but were at this time on holidays in Greece so we were able to stay in their apartment. After arriving we got straight into the task of making cocktails. The reason for going to Malmo at this time was because of the festival that was underway. At 7pm there was a band plaza up at the big square that we managed to miss completely On the train

. We did make it to the next band at 9.30 though. A Swedish pop band called Moneybrother. They were quite average and the sound was even worse echoey...  Despite this it was a really nice night, warm, lots of people and stalls and things happening. We intended to continue on partying but for some reasonno one else in the town had the same idea so everywhere was dead!

Wednesday Rebecca and I spent the morning cleaning up the apartment and washing a tablecloth that had managed to get soaked in beer... We walked around town looking at all the festivities and had lunch with some friends. We had some drinks again and went out to the pub. Had a fun night out and returned to wash yet another tablecloth... whoops.

On our last day Rebecca took me down to västra hamnen (the port) to do some sight seeing. It was here that my camera experienced some ill fate. Taking a self portrait using the timer option as I often do I placed the camera up on some sort of structure where an untimely freak gust of wind came and swept it down on to the concrete ground lens first. The camera is no longer functioning and is apparently unfixable... A very unfortunate end to a great few days... poo

On a more positive note one of my favourite things about Sweden is that they provide rugs at pubs and cafe´s!!
