We left from Flagstaff Wednesday morning and started our long drive towards San Diego. We drove through Sedona which was a bit out of the way but so worth it. Stunning landscapes, it's possibly a bit strange that I link it to a cartoon but it looks EXACTLY like something out of the Road Runner, as in the Looney Tunes cartoon with Wile E Coyote.
Driving through the Californian desert was also quite cool, I have never seen such a sparse landscape, and big cacti too. We went to Joshua Tree National Park which had some cool rock formations and a whole lot of boulders, lots of differnt species of cacti and the extremely odd Joshua Tree.
All this added several hours to our journey so we arrived in San Diego at about 8:30pm (after leaving at 8am) We got to our hostel and were convinced that we should be going on the pub crawl that was leaving in half an hour.
We went to a nice bar with some live music $1.50 beers. San Diego is a really nice city, we are staying in the gaslamp quarter so out street is all bars and restaurants.
Very nice city I thought, had a good feel to it, unlike to LA which I found to be quite grotty..
The next day we went to Balboa Park which was cool. That is where the San Diego Zoo is and wildlife park and a bunch of museums. San Diego Zoo is supposed to be the best zoo in the world but I really didnīt have any desire to go and we didnīt have a lot of time. We walked around the park which was nice and walked around teh art gallery. We then went to a beach that I canīt remember the name of but taht was also really nice.
