It was only a week ago that I purchased round-trip tickets to the South Pacific. No pre-booked tour, as I am accustomed to. No set itinerary, as I am accustomed to. Just a destination in mind with an insatiable desire to explore a new region of the world.

As I sit here in front of the computer, all packed up and ready to head out to LAX, I am relieved that I accomplished so much! Its been an intense week full of an abundance of emails, phone calls, and a seemingly endless amount of time researching on-line. What to do? What to see? For how long? How much will it cost? Even in the last two days, I made major last minutes changes to the itinerary altogether. I just had to squeeze in one more city!

For as much traveling as I have done, it is now time to put my money where my mouth is. I've done my fair share of pre-arranged tours. Out of a need for structure, convenience, and reliability, I've depended on tour companies. I've even been fortunate enough to travel with some incredible people...both good and not so good. This time though, there was not a tour that met my needs. The days were off. The price was not right. The destination was a bit off. And so on and so forth.

So, with my mom as my faithful sidekick, we're about to head off on a new adventure to the South Pacific. We'll first stop off at Fiji for a couple of days and then head out to Australia to capture a glimpse of a seemingly amazing country! From Sydney to Melbourne to Ayers Rock and Cairns...all the way back to Sydney all in about two weeks! Here we go! Wish us luck!
