Getting up at 5am again was great :), we were on the train from Retiro to Tigre in time for the 8.30am cacciola sea cat to Carmelo. This was then followed by the bus ride from Carmelo to Colonia.

Passing through the countryside between Carmelo and Colonia did remind me of Seville and Yarra Glen.  The cows in the fields were neck deep in thick green rushes that swarmed like algae around them, and then the large old bullocks tethered by aging rope that DID NOT look strong enough to hold them back if a desire for escape was cultivated.  The horses along the way ranged from stallions that were being ridden through the fields of round bails, to those groggy old mares who seemed to just be spending time swishing their tails in a meaningless manner.

An older man with leathery arms sat next to me on the trip when Javier decided he needed to have a two seater to himself.   He was at least in his 80's and occasionally stole a glance at my book which I am almost finished reading.  I wondered what he had been doing for the day, but of course lost my courage to ask at the final moment.

After about an hour we all stepped out into the heat to reassemble the pack horse file that we had adopted with all our belongings seriously weighing us down.    We found our little hostel, Hostel de Espanol, a  super vague small place that reminded me of something you would find out the back in a desert.  We climbed the rickety metal stairs to our room with the broken floor boards.

We went off in search of our ferry line out for the next day and to have a stroll around the gorgeous Portuguese developed Colonia.  What a special little place.  It was romantic and would be a great  place for any aspiring bachelor wishing to take a future lovely.  He would be surely remembered as they guy who took someone on a fabulous date., We strolled around had a lovely dinner in the square looking down the glinting cobblestones into the watery lagoons beyond.  Whilst not swim worthy, it was a marvel to look at and the whole feeling of the town reminded me of Greece.  We sat, ate, and drank sangria for a few hour sand then talked about life and other experiences that we pointed at the time.

We then walked further, and upon walking past  a little bar playing Ray Charles songs that always make you smile, we stumbled in and discovered gorgeous bar overlooking the water and of course got a liter of beer, cool glasses and talked into the evening,  Well at least until lize  luce and jav could not bear the mossies any more :)

The next step is iguazu after a different ferry trip back from colonia direct to Puerto Madero with sea cat then the 6 pm bus to iguazu for arrival Saturday arvo :) xo
