Bangkok oh Bangkok.  What a town.  This is going to be the shorter version of the huge entry I wrote yesterday and then lost to a computer crash... grrrr

So Bangkok, pretty much what I was expecting.  Tourist in all shapes and sizes.  Pretty much one large street party all day.  We stayed just off the infamous Khao San rd.

First night just people watched. And boy is there people to watch. Old and young, rich and backpackers, every ethnicity you can think of...and lady boys to keep you guessing for hours of entertainment.  Headed to bed early as the Siem Reap bus adventure took its toll.

Day two headed to the mega mall MBK. 7 floors of everything you can imagine.  And can you imagine I walked out of it with only toothpaste and contact solution...what is this world coming too?  That evening we decided since it was Paul's last night with the crew we would partake in a few famous Bangkok pastimes.
One:  drinking buckets on the side of the street, served to us out of a pickup truck (reminds me of my teenage years in WL) with a side of friend ants and grasshoppers.
Two: Ping Pong show.  For those of you who have been to Bangkok you know what I mean, and for those of you who haven't I will let you use your imagination :)  Quite the experience.  Wow...loss for words on this one.
Three:  Tuk tuk drag race through downtown in the middle of the night.  Consisted of the drives popping wheelies while we were in the back...

Day three was errand packed with me spending most of the day finding the Canadian embassy in order to vote and then walking to the Cathay Pacific office to try and find out why my Visa had not been credited for my refunded ticket we were forced to buy in Hong Kong (happens that it takes two months to process).  I then headed to a brand new mega mall where Haas en Daz was conducting an ice cream fashion show. I love Asia.   Headed back to Khoa San and Nadz and I boarded our bus south to the islands.  Night was uncomfortable and we awoke at 6, got kicked off the bus,, waited at a roadside restaurant for 2 hours, boarded a pickup truck, boarded another bus, and then finally boarded a ferry to Koh Phangan.  So here we are the island that is famous for the biggest beach party in the world known as the Full Moon party (on the 14th) .  Very busy here with tons of backpackers. Beach is beautiful, but everything is quite expensive.  Rest of the group gets in tomorrow to prepare for our final goodbye :(

Oh and a side note.  If any of you have heard about the riots and protests in Bangkok, you were probably one day ahead of us hearing about it.  They keep the tourists in this nice little bubble, so no worries we were kept very safe.

Be back in a few days. Gotta work on the tan!
