and god forbid if you took the sand from his hands. I sat n a little covered play area and a few of the kids were all over me, i guess needed so much attention, they just wanted to be held. this is when i snapped these few photos, you cannot take photos without the administrators permission, but i did anyway :)
. It was time for them to get cleaned up and omg it was like a zoo. they have no running water so the woman there fill these large containers and have them ready for bathing. they fill baby bathtubs with water, these are located in the shower stalls which are probably there for future showers. so each child goes in one after the other, in the same tub, there are only 2 set up. so i did one side another woman did the other. you wash one, grab them by the arms and carry them into the next room for drying and dressing for bed. i washed about 15 kids, my back was broken. i don't know how these women do it everyday. keep in mind that these are older kids about 2,3,4 so first they are on a potty and they sit there for about 15 minutes all laughing and talking, its loud! then you wipe and wash. so now they get clothes for bed and you deliver them to their crib and good night, good bye that was the only late day shift could do. i got on a boda and went home where i could shower and change and eat something, nooooo, no power, no shower. i was definitely taking tomorrow off.
Today i decided to do a later shift. so i head to the babies on my own. took a boda through traffic and dust. when i arrived, it felt a little different then the previous day. now i am more prepared, noooooo, i was definately not! the babies were at play time now, late afternoon. they were all over the place. there is a sandbox, a covered area with a large straw mat and toys and a playground with a slide, a broken one that is. there are so many hazards i couldn't count. i tried saving one tiny 7 month old from crawling down 20 concrete steps, one or two playing with the metal gate, (fingers!) omg i was running like a crazy woman. i went down to the play area near the sandbox and one was eating sand
