We ended up spending an entire day at Joels. It was a good thing, cause we needed to do some laundry and rest up a bit. While Jerry sat at a laundromat, I headed into downtown Prescott and found a bar called the Gurney
Grand Canyon 4
Street Sports Pub. Pretty dark, with not much goin on, but it was kinda nearby, and had beer. After they finished the laundry, we went back to Joels and just lazed around for the afternoon. Jerry and I were left on our own for dinner, and ended up at the Prescott Brewing Company. Im always in the mood to try new microbrews, and the sampler platter of beers was awfully good. After that, we headed home and called it a night.Captain at the Canyon
The next morning, we left heading north for the Grand Canyon. WOW! Id never really thought that it looked like all that much in pictures, but this is truly a case where pictures cant do it justice. I definitely need to go back and spend a week or two just hiking around the canyon. Maybe even try to get a ranger job there for a year or something and get to know the whole thing. We saw condors flying around the rim, and climbed just a little way down. Its a long hike down a back, and people get lost or stranded all the time. Unfortunately, we're now on a bit of a schedule. We have to be in Seattle by the 8th. So we couldn't spend an entire day there, just an hour or so. But next time...Grand Canyon 3
We left the canyon, and drove around the eastern end, then crossed the Colorado River and headed back into Utah. We got a campsite at Zion National Park. It was a nice site, with a creek running nearby, fairly crowded, but not too loud or anything. After a few beers, we turned in.
