Where I stayed
Greeted warmly at Kuchi Rumi by Rodregrez (yes David E he has your alter ego as his name), the very busy manager took time to sit with us. Welcoming us to the beautiful setting and our home for the next 2 nights. Amazingly, we were to stay in a fully furnished little cottage with a very unusual fire place set within lovely gardens. Complete with dogs and brand new puppy.
Exhausted from the journey we chose to spend the best part of the morning sleeping and planning what we would visit in the coming days
Heading to the ruins and purchasing our ticket I was surprised to hear someone shout in our direction, "I know you!" to find one of the guys we met in Taganga - James sat on a wall. Amazingly we had also bumped into him in Cartagena and 2 countries later... here he was. Sharing his stories of trying the potent and hallucinogenic San Pedro drink, we climbed the ruins and admired the views. The drink is made from cactus plants and requires you fast 24 hours before drinking. It also frequently makes the consumer physically sick soon after consumption shortly followed by a 10 hour trip and self enlightenment.
Saying goodbye to James and friend we found a spot for a beer and heading home to freshen up before spending the evening in a posh restaurant a few kms from our little cottage. Enjoying a few more wines by the fire on our return........ more soon....
