Looking forward to having my bike fixed and then tomorrow I'll go back to Hannibal tomorrow and come back to St Louis to visit on Saturday.
Spent the morning pleasantly riding down the East side of the Mississippi. Did not see much of it as the roads took me out into the countryside. Not much to photograph but took a few. Then I saw a cool old iron drawbridge crossing over the Mississippi and had to go over it. It had twists and turns just to get on the bridge and twists on the bridge, It was the second funnest bridge I have been on in this trip. Arriving on the other side I discovered that I was in Iowa and there was the Great River Road sign for that side of the river so I decided to follow it down to Hannibal which was to be my next planned stop - Mark Twain. I stopped at Wendys for lunch to check my e-mail to see if I had gotten a time from BMW for fixing my bike. Instead, the person really wanted me to get there today to ensure he was ordering the right parts. So off to St Louis (Breckenridge Hills) I go. Fortunately the River Road on this side had been turned into a four lane divided highway to I made short work of the 180 miles to get there. My trusty GPS got me to the dealership without any problems and everything is in order for me to get my bike fixed. I am staying approx 2 miles away from the dealer in not a very rich area. So of course decide as there is no good restaurants in the area (except Mexican) I decided to do my laundry (you can only turn your underwear inside out so many times). Boy do you see the locals at the laundromat! Was like the time I took the New Yorek subway - keep you eyes down, don't stare....Fun though nothing happened except I was approached by a drunken panhandler outside and gave him a $1.
