Where I stayed
The ride stated off wonderfully with riding through the valley I looked on from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon yesterday. I got off my bike a took some photo's at the Navajo Bridge. The original two lane bridge bulit early last century is still there as a tourist attraction while a new multilane bridge was built right beside it. The bridge crosses over the Colorado which was a funny green colour which may be caused by all the iron oxide in the rocks.
Down the road further I saw a sign pointing to the South Rim Grand Canyon and I said 'why not' I haddn't planned to go there today but I had not been down that road. I was initially dissapointed that a lot the the vehical access viewing areas were closed due to the parking lots being resurfaced
What a difference. The sun was much lower in the sky (Sunset was around 6:30) and there were shadows!! The rock formations looked so different it was exciting and of course the photo's mounted up. Glad I have a digital camera.
I had finished my touristing and had gotten back to my bike a little after 6pm it was already getting dark. By the time I left the park it was dark and I had still 60 miles to travel. Once we had gotten out of Grand Canyon Village the commercial end just outside of the part I managed to get free of traffic and drove almost traffic free to Williams where I am staying for two night. And would you believe it? I drove just under the speed limit all the way home.
Well I'm tired but happy that it was once again a fun filled interesting day.
