Where I stayed
Cedar Breaks was recommended to me by a Visitor Guide in Salt Lake City and I am glad I went as it was very beautiful but cold and windy. Anytime someone says to you we are going to an Alpine Meadow get out the fleece jackets. Here I met some bikers from California and had a good chat.
Kolob Canyons is a 'short' drive along the canyon road. It was my first look at Zion and I was not impressed. Kolob Terrace Road however was a very relaxing ride (45 mph max) through a changing countryside that ranged from hot desert at the start of the road (1082m) and I was rewarded by a very pleasant temperature when I arrived at Kolob reservoir (2475m). You'll see the changes in the pics below. The road itself is not commercialized and the road is a mix of private and park owned. The addition of hairpin curves made the ride so much more interesting. Funny when I get to these types of roads I forget about looking at the scenery and just smile.
Tomorrow I am going to complete Zion taking the shuttle bus through Zion Canyon. Then I plan to head towards Bryce Canyon.
