Today the plan was to ride back to the Motel 6 I stayed at a couple of nights ago when I completed the Route 66 ride.

I did not plan to stop in LA as I didn't want to deal with the cars or the people although I did see the famous 'HOLLYWOOD' sign as I passed through LA.

I did however plan to visit Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove. I took the guided tour around the 'campus' and my very knowledgeable guide "Ed' led me through the buildings and grounds. As I said he was very informative providing background on how Pastor Schuller came to his calling and how the the crystal cathedral campus was built. While showing me the statues, ED gave me the bible story behind each one and when I thanked him for the tour he told me that he just loved his 'service' and being able to spread the gospel in his own way.

The rest of the staff I met were extremely pleasant  and wanted to assist in any way possible to make my visit more enjoyable. I was very surprised that at no time was there any requests for donations although donation boxes were in clear sight nor was there any 'preaching' or attempt at conversion. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.

The trip through LA was not too bad even though I went via the main route through LA this time, via the I05 north. The highway took me by most of the main attractions of LA - Downtown, Little Japan, Universal Pictures, Hollywood etc. and then brought me by a place from my early TV days back in the sixties: Burbank. Downtown Burbank was the 'setting' of Rowens and Martins 'Laugh-In' which I faithfully watched each week. So the ride although stop and go at times was enjoyable. See the names of the places and catching a glimse of the Holliwood sign on the hill was more than enough for me.

Tomorrow, I resume my ride up the Pacific Coast Highway or PCh as they call it here.
