Well, I've made it to Wellington via train. I travelled with Brian, a guy from my dorm in Auckland. The trip was nice, but long. Picture twelve hours of rolling hills, sheep, and cows. We had the sudden change of weather which I guess I'll be taking for granted soon. Snow, sun, rain, you can have it all in one day.

Saturday night in Wellington seemed to be quite busy. I walked around a bit and wandered into a nice book store and mall. I've also been rereading Howard Zinn's Declarations of Independence. This was a good book the first time I read it and I recommend it to everyone. It's interesting how much our government lies to us and we still accept it. Anyway, read it if you want to get another perspective on history, government, and especially authority.

After applying for many jobs in Wellington, I feel that I might be heading to Queenstown to work in hotels (if possible). The area looks amazing and some of the offers are very nice. Although only about $11/hr, many offer reduced accomodation, free use of gym, spa, sauna, tennis courts, pool. Isn't that worth more than $11/hr? Anyway, I'm hoping to head out soon if I plan to get a job ahead of the summer rush. Not that the summer rush is coming for a while, but I'm really just anxious to get a job and get settled. It seems that there isn't much for me to do in an NZ winter.

Food has also been interesting. This is probably the best I've ever eaten (health wise). Apples, apple juice, noodles, PB+J, strawberry bars. That pretty much sums up what I've eaten in NZ. Tonight's dinner cost roughly NZ$.80, or about $.50 in American currency. That is cheap! Well, I'm out for now. Pictures will be posted later with much difficulty (apparently Windows XP hasn't made it to the South Pacific).
