EN: We did not have a plan to make big New Year´s party. The main reason for that was, that we both had to work next morning on 1st January, sad:-( But we did not want to spend New Year´s eve sitting at home either. So we decided to go out. First we stoped at our friend´s house and wishes them Happy New Year. Then we headed to Revelstoke Community Centre where the party with life music took place. The music was great but not so much people came here to celebrate New Year. So we left this place before midnight and walked through centre looking for another place to get in for a midnight drink. But all bars and restaurants were totally full with no chance to get in. As known, there is alcohol prohibition in public area in Canada, many police cars were driving around whole night, so the thought to have a midnight drink in the street was not good. Finally we did not have any other choice, we stood at the main street under clock and took small bottle with Rum and drunk a bit as a midnight drink with all the best wishes for coming new year. After midnight we found then nice pub with the free seats so we sat for a beer. We met an australian couple here who we know from work, so we had a beer with them before we went home.
For explanation of how looks New year´s party here, it is necessary to add, that completely defies what we know in our country. There were no fireworks, no one shot fireworks, firecrackers or anything like that. This activities need special permit with safe place. Throughout the city we did not meet one drunk man, no one who screamed, yelled and made a fuss on the street, as is known in Europe. They all behaved very modestly, with decency and respect. It seemed not to be New Year´s Eve but just ordinary day. At midnight, people just moved away the table, muttered something like Happy New Year and continued normal conversation with their friends. At first we found all this very poor and we could not believe that this is New Year´s Eve. However we began to see it differently and found out then, that it´s actually much better to see people celebrating rather quiet, cool with no extra emotions and fuss all around. We felt good and finally agreed that we really not miss all the noise around from fireworks and drunk people what we know from home. We got home then at night and got to sleep very easily without any noise of the streets before we had to go to work next morning.
