We had a great day today.  Our sponsors rented vans and we all piled in while we drove up to the moutaintop city of Monreale.  There was an excellent example of a Byzantine cathedral with the most tedious looking mosaics I had ever seen.  I do not know how succesful the building was as a church, but architecturally it invoked a grand emotion, so I enjoyed it.

Then we got to drive through BEAUTIFUL Sicilian countryside on our way to Agrigento.  I really enjoyed getting to see lush hills that rolled into jutting mountains.  We arrived in Agrigento to several Greek temples resting high above the city on a hill called hill of the temples.  They are beautifully lit at night and serve as a beacon and marker for the rest of the city.  We are going to get up close and personal with these ruins tomorrow.

Marion then took us to a greek archaeological museum, and let me tell you, those Greeks made a lot of pots.  I mean, there were cases and cases of pots.  I guess when you couldnt watch tv or play video games, what else would you do other than pottery?

I could not upload pictures today, hopefully I will get a chance tomorrow.  Ciao!

Will you get to see Etna? I find it intriguing that when you tour Europe in the winter the daylight hours are significantly shorter. One, I imagine, be more likely to appreciate the lights of the cities.
