This is the same love affair that I had in Cuba & Peru. I'm giving up coffee in North America! Eniko & Bojana, you can appreciate where I am coming from & the cafes are packed in the afternoon. There is a table for 3 just waiting for us!
Before I continue, you should all know that I have not spoken English in 3 days! ... it's only been French & trying to explain to the people here that I do not speak Arabic :-)
I took a walk on the 'bord de mer' (boardwalk) from the hotel. Temp is about 22°C, the sun is bright & the sand is soft. I am sitting on some rocks facing the waves rolling in on the Atlantic & young boys are having a great time swimming. However, there are no women, to be seen in the water; just a few on the shoreline. I don't feel that it would be appropriate to stick my feet in the water although, right now, I'm sitting on the rocks amongst men. Not to mention that there is a goat walking around my shoulder trying to talk to me ... too funny! I think that he is complaining about his young master who keeps carrying him into the ocean. Poor guy, he just doesn't feel like swimming today.
Fellas ... tune out for a moment ...
Ladies, the men in Casablanca are gorgeous ... "red" men everywhere! Problem: I can't look at them directly nor photograph them so y'all will have to make the trip here to see them. I'm happy to peruse the rest of the country & provide reports in the coming weeks.
Hotel Bonus: the sun sets over the Atlantic ... view from the terrace ... sweeeet!
Ok, so overall impression of Casablanca: it's just a city. It's modern; has every convenience: malls, office buildings, wide roads, all brands of cars, fashionable citizens, & a few huge mosques to make it look 'exotic'. I read that 3-5 million people live here, but I don't really see it - no real congestion.
Enjoy the photos!
