14 Sept - We left Annecy headed for Geneva where we had an appointment in town. There we were taken to a private room and served a very fine lunch with delightful wine. We both enjoyed the food very much and after almost 3 hours left for our overnight in Langendorf. Our host for lunch was one of those Swiss private banks and while we didn't take photos we noted the venue's artworks and in particular the model trimaran yacht (Gitana) with the bank's logo. A couple of years ago the yacht was in HK and I was sorry not to have been invited to sail on it.

As the day was sunny our host apologised for the fact the room was not air-conditioned...indeed the whole building was not. Even though he visits Asia a number of times a year over the past 15 years he was still not used to the heat of Geneva in autumn. We on the other hand were quite comfortable.

When you travel in this day and age you have to think of everything. When I booked this CHF95 a night hotel (no breakfast included) I asked for inter alia  firm pillows, double bed (not 2 singles stuck together). Now as i sit writing this I realise I forgot to check they have air conditioning....they don' can I have to think of even this?

I'm getting sick of all this and the prices. Here we have the Swiss Franc appreciate some 30% against the USD (and thus oil) yet they are far more expensive for petrol and charge 95 a night for a 2 star hotel. When did air conditioning become a feature of 3 star and above hotels only. I suppose when I check out they will charge me for the electricity and water.

Dinner at least was very tasty (even without our wine, which we'll drink another night) and the host here and the staff are very cheerful.

15 Sept - No pictures of Langendorf and we're off to Zurich.
