This weekend has been the most fulfilling weekend yet since I have been in Sweden. The gorgeous weather both Saturday and Sunday might have influenced my optimism of it all. But it all began Friday with the excitement of some friends from Stockholm coming to Sundsvall to visit me and other friends here. I met sofia and sara in Green river community College when they made the decision to study abroad there along with 6 other Swedish students. Sofia met up with me and introduced me to a new group of Swedish students that were all in the journalism program at the university. She had to get up early Saturday so we went to bed pretty early, and for that it made the rest of the weekend incredibly energetic. Saturday morning I woke up bright at early at 9 am to a blue sky I hadn't seen in 3 weeks. I jumped up and knew that my goal for the day would be to see the South mountain. I started hiking into the woods alone.
Once I got to the end of the gravel trail is came out to a a gorgeous lake that Esse happen to live on. I made my way down to a dock on the lake and sprawled out my body ready to absorb the rays of sunlight. I found myself smiling while I sat there alone snapping pictures of the scenery all around. It was hard to imagine that this same lake will freeze this winter and people will be ice skating on it. That would be a dream of mine, to get to ice skate on a lake. It's soooo ideal to a winter wonderland. With shoes off and body stretched out on the warm dock, an hour and a half flew by in a blink.
Walking home from the bus station after saying good bye to sofia and sara was almost a magical scene of a movie. Sofia and I

When I get to be alone every once in a while, I then begin to really soak up what s going on around me. The leaves are a multitude of red, yellow and orange and there is a crisp wind in the air as the sun sets on my walk back to Oscarsgatten. There is so much intricate detail in each of the buildings in town, it's such an adventure to take the time and look at them as i was walking home.
It is Tuesday now and the sun has still continued through today!! It has been sooooooooo unbeleivably gorgeous. Basketball practice yesterday was so fun, and today i had a presentation for intercultural communication. I discusseed all the expreiences i have been through so far and what i have learned from the new culture i am around now. It is kind of like a therapy class for us international students. We also discussed culture shock today and how there will be more of a shock when we go to re enter back into our home culture. We talked about how that is a harder transition then when we came here. I had never really thought about this until after class i was picturing what it would be like to come home and everyone being the same and what will be different about me to everyone. I know when it gets to be that time i am really going to be sad to leave my life here and the people i have met. There are already so many students that are thinking about studying for the whole year they like it so much here. I love it here too, but I am going to be so happpy to get to see my family and friends for christmas.
My dear friend Jana and i went swimming today together, then sat in the sauna and then went shopping and then we went for coffee! We talked and talked and talked. We enjoys spending out time together. We have made tuesday our swimming and girl talk day. Sunday, will be our grocery day together soon. We talked about visiting each other in our home countries. I would love to see germany and also get to stay with a good friend while i visited. Jana said she might come study her masters in the US and her fathe lives in Arizona, so i told her i hope she decides to come to the west coast because that would be so amazing, to be able to visit her once in a while.
