HELP THE AGED, ONE TIME THEY WERE JUST LIKE YOU, DRINKING, SMOKING CIGS AND SNIFFING GLUE

This week has been the best yet! So I got over my flu, well I think I
was just being a wimp really, I was fine the next day! But I still took
a few days off work just to be sure! Spring is here now in Wanaka and it is beautiful and sunny and the
atmosphere is really changing around town. People are a lot more laid
back and enjoying the long evenings walking along the lake front and
sipping lattes outside the cafes. It's real European like! On Monday night it started to snow. On Tuesday it was still snowing. In
fact it snowed so much that they were going to shut the mountain! It
was a miracle! Finally the snow we had all been praying for since June
had landed and just kept coming! It snowed all day Tuesday too! I had
my half day on Tuesday and strapped my board on and hit the slopes and
had an amazing day! I then went home, hit the sack early, work up at
the crack of dawn on Wednesday and hit the 60cm of fresh powder that
had fallen!I was hiking up to cliffs and dropping off them, navigating narrow
chutes and lots of rocks, getting stuck in thigh deep powder, carving
up the whole mountain and even hit my first jump! Well, technically I
couldn't move out of the way of a huge rock so I popped off it and didn't
fall, so I calm that as a jump! After 5 hours of continuous riding my legs and knees gave up and I
collapsed in a heap in the fresh snow! It was pure bliss! I am still
smiling! What a feeling! So that night it was a dinner in town to say goodbye to English Mel who
is heading back home to 'get a real job'! I feel so sorry for her, and
the millions others who have to deal with a 9-5pm when there is
mountains out there to be conquered! After that it was on to the staff
party. It was a fancy dress party and the theme was OAP! I didn't dress
up but most of the boys did as very convincing Mrs Doyles' and
everywhere I looked everyone just looked like my nan! So I am now so excited about my snowboarding and that I am now finally
doing what I came here to do in the first place, snowboard and be out
and up on the mountains everyday!
