Hi everyone
Well I am now officially Mrs Perryman!!
The last two weeks have been absolutely mental with friends and family arriving like a monsoon storm. The pre-wedding week was crackers with both of us running around meeting and greeting, me panicking, David negotiating fees, prices, sorting out accommodation issues, me showing friends the local area, us finalising flowers, cakes, musicians, cars, logistics of how, when and why people leaving for the wedding from specific destinations. Oh the mayhem, the mayhem of it all!!!
I stayed at a friends the night before the wedding and we went out for some drinks and dinner which was civilised and calming. However, on the actual day I was a mess!!! I was up early, ran a few errands and then we all got to my friend's, Hazel's, house where we ate lunch then lounged by her pool chatting and laughing trying to calm my nerves but I couldn't sit still for 5 minutes. I was making lists for everyone, making calls, panicking in case I'd forgotten something. It was very amusing for everyone to watch!! When we all decided to get our acts together and get ready someone put the only genre of music Hazel owns onto the stereo - Country and Western - and we ranked up Dolly Parton and so began the Bridal Beautifying process to the sounds of "Stand By Your Man"! I had my hair and make up done by my friend Sam while sipping champagne
Getting into my dress was hysterical. Not only was I sweating like a pig due to the heat but we couldn't get the dress done up!! Els, Heidi AND Sam were all behind me going "you hold that bit...." "you zip that bit up..." "right Lois, breathe in..." god alone knows how I managed to get into it. Far too many curries were consumed pre-wedding I think!!
When everyone had been collected by car, only my uncle and I and Wayne the photographer were left in the house. Wayne was taking some photos of me by Hazel's elaborate marble staircase and suddenly the room started spinning and I was shaking like a leaf!! I was soooo nervous. Wayne ordered my uncle Raymond to get me some water with sugar in it and 10mins later I was right as rain.
My uncle and I drove to the wedding in Hazels red convertible mercedes which looked stunning with ribbons all over it. But my face was a picture!! I was 1 minute late and I was sooo flustered because of this!! 1 flaming minute!! for goodness sakes!! I can laugh about it now thank god. My bridesmaids and flower girl and my uncle did an amazing job and I walked down the aisle with my Uncle to Eva Cassidy's "You Take My Breath Away" it is stunning
The venue looked absolutely amazing. It was an open air civil ceremony in the grounds of a ruined abbey. We decided on orange and white flowers - lillies and roses and the wooden balustrades and fencing around the area where we got married was all decorated with ribbons and flowers too. Sooo gorgeous.
First of all, there was the legal side of the ceremony which went straight into signing the legal papers after a small introduction conducted by the District Officer of Kyrenia. When all the papers were signed we were declared man and wife and I let out an ear-bleeding "WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!" then came the Exchange of Vows which was done by a wonderful woman (now our friend!) called Marion who conducted a very informal ceremony talking about our love for each other, our advenutres and how we met and also reading a passage on Love which was beautiful. Then David and I did a big snog and everyone cheered!!!
Following this David and I had photos taken around the ruins of the abbey which was stunning. I immediately kicked off my high heels and said "right, let's get these contraptions off my feet!" I hate wearing shoes! The weather was utterly gorgeous all day long. Then we mingled for a bit and did lots of kissing and hugging and my cheeks were killing me because I just couldn't stop smiling. I was soooo happy and on a complete high all day
Immediately afterwards we had the cutting of the cake and our wedding planner had organised us to cut the cake with a massive sword! and there was a countdown by everyone and when we got to "1", fireworks were let off, like massive sparklers and it was absolutely beautiful, stunning.
After this the band started up again and David and I got on the floor and did our first dance together which I have no idea what it was!! we initially had chosen Better Together by Jack Johnson but both of us were a bit indifferent about it despite loving the song and agreeing that it sums up our relationship. However, when we booked the south american band we thought it would be much better to have a slow song done by them, like a Rat Pack song done south american style!! I wasn't drunk the whole day but I just can't recall what the song was! there was sooo much going on. Then everyone else hit the floor and we all danced with each other and the band let us try on their massive sombrero for photos.
There were more photos later when the sun had set as the ruins of the abbey got lit up with orange lights which is stunning
The band finished around 11pm and then everyone started to go home which was perfect timing because David and I were shattered anyway. We were supposed to be collected by a limo to take us back to the hotel but the hotel cocked up and so david and I and Scott, the best man and his wife were the last to leave and we had to leave on the hotel minibus!! not particularly romantic but never mind. It all adds to the stories of the day. I'm so glad I wasn't drunk all day and neither was David. We had a few drinks obviously but neither of us wanted to be so drunk that we wouldn't remember anything or forget to say goodbye to anyone.
When we got back to the hotel, a large number of us decided to go down to the casino, me in my wedding dress and bare feet!! and david in his suit. It would have made a terrific photo but the casino would probably never have allowed this! Someone must have been looking down on us that whole day as we cashed in $65 for chips and walked out with $200 profit!!!! we always play roulette, it's the easiest way to win money!!!
We both had such an amazing day. It was magical with all our friends and family here, all the magical wedding lights, the attention, the photographs, the weather was absolutely beautiful - we were so lucky, everything was just perfect. Scott and Erol - David's Best Men, Roger - our usher/M.C
Now, everyone has gone home. I have been crying my eyes out saying goodbye to friends. To treat ourselves, we had the most amazing Turkish bath in the Hotel which involved:
*1st stage: steam in a marble steam room and I don't mean "get a bit glowy" I mean proper steam so you can't breathe and are absolutely dripping in sweat.
*2nd stage: whole body scrub with a glove puppet by a dark sultry turk.
*3rd: splash with warm water.
*4th: tons of foam poured onto us.
*5th: whole body wash with foam by Turk.
*6th: splash.
*7th:hair wash and head massage by turk.
*8th: cold water splash!! when we came out we were both walking on clouds. It was heavenly! absolutely blisssss.
Although our post-wedding honeymoon week was at the big posh Malpas Hotel where everyone else was, we did not stop running around for one minute, chasing people, paying people, organising people...so the REAL honeymoon is going to be blissssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. First stop: ISTANBUL!!
We'll keep you posted. Hope you're all well and happy.

Awww
. Els and Heidi got changed into their bridesmaids dresses while I'm shouting "let's see! let's see!" and "I'm going to be late! I'm going to be late!" We had our photographer Wayne there recording my metamorphosis and Ems was videoing me screaming into the air just to relieve some of my immensely pent up nerves!!!Getting into my dress was hysterical. Not only was I sweating like a pig due to the heat but we couldn't get the dress done up!! Els, Heidi AND Sam were all behind me going "you hold that bit...." "you zip that bit up..." Calm before the storm
. As soon as I saw David my heart melted and my first words to him were "hello handsome" he looked scrumptious.

Daddy was there too
. The reception went excellently, the food was delicious mezee with Kleftico to follow (slow cooked lamb), the speeches were amazing. We had a minor microphone problem initially but then my uncle's speech was short but lovely and made everyone laugh. David's 2 best men did a joint comedy speech about david's life and his achievements and my husband (!!) and I were both crying and then Heidi and Elspeth my bridesmaids surprised me and read out a poem from the girls back home in brighton who were not able to make the wedding so that set me off again. Immediately afterwards we had the cutting of the cake and our wedding planner had organised us to cut the cake with a massive sword! and there was a countdown by everyone and when we got to "1", fireworks were let off, like massive sparklers and it was absolutely beautiful, stunning.

David - getting very excited... I'm on my way
. Everyone was having a ball, or seemed to anyway. The place looked magical and I was just thrilled as thrilled could be!! The band finished around 11pm and then everyone started to go home which was perfect timing because David and I were shattered anyway. Getting down to business
. Heidi and Els - my bridesmaids, Victoria - flower girl and Uncle Raymond - who gave me away did the most amazing jobs and made our day. They were superstars and we were so proud of them. And I am a very very proud Mrs Perryman now. It's excellent being a wifey. I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!Now, everyone has gone home. I have been crying my eyes out saying goodbye to friends. Bon voyageeeeee
Hello Mr and Mrs
Just a quickie to say thanks for inviting me and allowing me to bring a complete stranger aka Dee. We both had a cracking time and after lightening up our wallets at the airport on our return, we are back in blighty.
Luckily for us, the weather is blinkin gorgeous here so not in the doldrums too much about being back..... though it's annoying being in such a self-obsessed country, Cyprus didn't seem to have that feel at all.
Oh, and that whole tax refund business... don't do it anyone... Dee nearly had her Northern Cyprus purchases ceased. They REALLY don't get on. Lots of eye fluttering and sweet smiles later, she got to keep her goods but no refund. Never mind, them kiddies are gonna look shhhweeet!
Lots of love to you both, and enjoy the world... it IS your oyster (for 9 months anyway) x x x
you both look gorgeous!!!
WOW!!! what a lovely bride and groom Congratulations..... enjoy your travels and keep us posted, I am going to San Francisco and the Napa valley for a few weeks but will be watching out for the next instalment xxxx Love Lois xxxxx
