Rainy Beach Day
Entry 23 of 323 | show all | print this entry |
We arrived in the beach resort town of Porto Seguro yesterday after a 12 hour overnight bus ride from Salvador. We were quite disapointed to see overcast skies and a slight drizzel but we figured it would pass. The town is quite nice with tons of little hotels. On a rainy weekday it is absolutely dead, but at night, even in light drizzel there is life. Buses full of kids aged 14-17 pull up and let them out on the main square. This square has a bunch of different little restaurants with tables out on the square and waiters are on you like vultures, `come in here, I have great food, cheap and I give 2 free caipirinhas´. you practically have to fight them off. If you try to walk a little farther away from them, you get to the other side of the square where the locals have set up dozens of little boths with fruity drinks. The set up is beautiful (check out the pics) but they are just as eager to give you small samples and get you to buy them. Really fun times. On our secod day here we went for a 4km walk on the beach to a close town of Arraial D´Ajuda. Beautiful walk, but very overcast and rainy again. The town was very pretty, and we somehoe managed to get a tan in the rain. At night we cought a bus out of town. This place would have been absolutely perfect if there was some sun. Beautiful beaches, cheep food, not bad hotels.
