Where I stayed
It had been planned as a lazy morning, so we eventually made it from our bed (beds actually, since we were in a dorm room sold to us a double) and headed off for breakfast. McDonalds was closed due to a public holiday (!!!!) so we found an Indian place that we had read about just off the main square. Silly thing to have for breakfast, but since it was after 12 we could technically claim that it was lunch. It was delicious, and we were very stuffed.
Back in the Square, we decided the best thing to do after eating a large meal of Indian food is to climb a church tower! The Square was absolutely deserted, as all normal people were inside. We thought the tower might not be open but we were in luck - a bored lady sold us tickets to climb the tower, all 102m of it. It was cold at the top but very beautiful standing there looking at the snow covered town.
Back down on ground level, we headed across the river to the Pilsner Urquell Brewery which was also open on a public holiday (and McDonalds isnt??). On the way we saw people running around a park, yup in the snow. From what we could gather, it was an ultra-marathon. Unlucky choice of day! The brewery is a huge complex and now very much set up for tours. The visitors centre was huge. We arrived just in time for an English tour. We werent allowed to take photos as we hadnt paid the extra fee but we snuck off a few anyway! At the end of the tour, we ended up in a dripping cellar to taste a glass of beer. And then it was back out into the daylight, where we found it had stopped snowing.
