A lazy start to the morning saw us exit our site at 11. With only 1 hour to board the ferry at Picton, we simply had to stop at Makena chocolates for some tasty morsels. The kids loved watching them making fruit mince pie chocolates for their Christmas release, from 24 November.
We hightailed it down to Picton, where we had to wait 45 minutes for the ferry. So much for New Zealand's roads taking longer to drive.
While waiting in the queue for the ferry, we received a phone call from the plumbing supplies informing us that, while they did say 11 - 11:30, they were a bit early. How early, I ask? You see, I don't have a watch on me (and I'm in New Zealand without a watch, which makes it doubly hard to know the time in Sydney). 10:35am came the reply. Well, I will just call my representative, who has promised to meet you there. He will be right over.
After lunch, we entertained the kids long enough to get through the heads, after which we took them downstairs to the double storey soft play area, which had been overrun by primary aged school kids on excursion. Fortunately 'Amy' took a shining to our Yasmin, and helped the two of them through the playtime for the next hour or so.
After docking in Wellington, we negotiated peak hour traffic to Lower Hutt, where a patch of gravel awaited us. The kids napped, and we went to get some groceries. The highlight of the grocery trip was that while the kids slept, Gavin saw a group of late teens in the obvious employ of a pink pig mascot, handing out brochures to the passersby. No one else saw this, but it happened.
Back at the camping ground, the kids ran around like crazy people on the play ground and on the 'jumping pillow' while Deb made dinner.

Anyway, once on board the ferry, we went to get some lunch in the food court. Yasmin was most miffed that we missed out on a window seat and complained loudly enough that the twenty-something bloke sitting there eventually thought he'd get peace and quiet elsewhere. Score one for whingeing, zero for expectation management. After lunch, we entertained the kids long enough to get through the heads, after which we took them downstairs to the double storey soft play area, which had been overrun by primary aged school kids on excursion.
