This morning started slow, with a sleep in followed by spilt jam all over the lounge and floor. How runny can New Zealand jam get, and how far does 500g go? Very ... and a long way.
Drove through some lovely countryside towards the ocean and on to Kaikoura. We undertook to stop for morning tea, but nowhere presented itself, and so it was, with starving wife and children, we arrived at Kaikoura for a tasty morsel of Kaikoura Seafood BBQ. Grilled fish, garlic scallops and crayfish patty on rice and/or bread. Yum.
After this, it was off to the Point Farm for a lesson in Drysdale sheep farming and to watch the shearing of said Drysdale. The kids loved it.
From there it was off for a walk to the seal colony, but it turned out that they were so far away and the ankles of the poor children so puny and the closest seals were at least 500m away
On returning to earth, we decided to drive into town to book accommodation and determine which tour to take in the morning. Accommodation proved to be the simple task. The main tour operator in town (and the only one offering a boat tour to see the whales) doesn't take children under three. We briefly toyed with the idea of leaving Mckayla in the campervan with a collection of DVDs and figurines (a favourite) before ruling out the tour altogether.
So we walked into town and spent the tour money on a crayfish dinner. Yum.

The meal
. Yasmin discovered that cows poo directly on to the ground because "they are animals and not like humans, who have toilets, even though sometimes humans have been known to poo on the ground also."On returning to earth, we decided to drive into town to book accommodation and determine which tour to take in the morning. Re: MEALS
I'm not sure I should dignify that with an answer, but as I already have, I won't any further.
