The day started like any other: breakfast and ducks. The ducks had most of the breakfast unfortunately.
We then took a road trip to Hanmer Springs via Waipara and Culverden. At Waipara, we stopped at a couple of wineries to get tanked (just kidding, it was a driving trip). We had a genteel sip of a couple of fine drops, and heavily utilized the spittoon. We also had some hot drinks and lemonade at one of the wineries.
On route to Culverden, we were pleased to discover that a bakery would be opening soon, via a very helpful sign about 10km out of town. It was only when we realised we couldn't buy ANY bread at all that we realised why it would be such a good idea to advertise something not yet in existence.
Lunch consisted of sandwiches and slippery dip at Culverden Park.
On to Hanmer Springs, and we soon discovered the appeal of hot water bubbling out of the ground. After a stroll through the town and then a BBQ dinner, during which we couldn't keep Mckayla still, we moved to the famous springs.

Hanmer Springs is lovely/quaint
On to Hanmer Springs, and we soon discovered the appeal of hot water bubbling out of the ground. After a stroll through the town and then a BBQ dinner, during which we couldn't keep Mckayla still, we moved to the famous springs.
The obligatory watershot
Two hours later, the prunes emerged, largely unscathed except for the pesky 'Lifeguard' constantly haranguing us about keeping the kids within arm's reach and out of the hot pool and head above water at all times (same lifeguard - I think he thought he'd strike the jackpot).
Not posing for Daddy
Of course Mckayla was next to impossible to control, and wouldn't sit still for the obligatory photograph in the water.
Posing for Yasmin
All in all a pleasant day, all things considered.Pretty lights
