When does a holiday begin? On the day you leave home? At the precise moment you exit the house and turn the key in the lock and leave? Or when you put your head to the pillow at the first stop towards the 'final destination'?
In any event, the moments before we left for the airport were no less exciting than the ones we are bound to have in the month of November 2007.
Discuss.
So, our last day before departure had very little to do with New Zealand, and quite a lot to do with our house.
When we finally got away, Gavin got plastered in the Qantas Club, leaving Deb to ensure the kids didn't go feral. She didn't succeed. The flight was uneventful, if you count screaming kids on the descent nothing to note. Most people didn't.
Arrival at Christchurch at 10:10pm left us tired after a long day, but sleep was far away.
Let's not even mention the two hour time zone difference. Not much to get used to, you'd think. But for some insane reason, Gavin was feeling that he'd gone two hours the other way, and woke up ready for action at 4:30am Christchurch time.
Long day ahead.

Yasmin is excited about taking her new bag
For those of you who don't know, we have foolishly decided to leave Australia at the very moment someone is preparing to destroy the 'rear wing' of our abode. Don't fear humble reader: we aren't acceding to threats. This is a planned event. We are complete dolts. We have decided to renovate while detonating a portion of our house. But to be safe, we left the country while it happened. But I digress.Yasmin takes a photo of Daddy in the mess.
Before we could leave, we needed to vacate the premises. Or at least part of them. So, having spent that last five or six years ensuring that every nook and cranny was gainfully employed, we have had a rethink, and decided that these nooks were really very empty places indeed. So, our last day before departure had very little to do with New Zealand, and quite a lot to do with our house.

Mckayla contemplates Christchurch airport
Gavin had forgotten to book bedding for the room in which we stayed. He was also too tired to get dressed for bed, and attempted to sleep in shorts and a T-shirt. This might have been OK in Sydney, but the temperature in the evening in Christchurch in November is at least 10 degrees Celsius lower than he was used to.Let's not even mention the two hour time zone difference. Your holiday
Very entertaining reading. Perhaps earplugs would help Yas and Macca for the descent on the return trip? Apart from that, what did they think of the flight?
Re: Your holiday
Lots of fun on the plane - but a handful!
