After we left the Okavango Delta, we made a quiet stop to re-fill waterbottles and get other supplies. We stepped onto the truck to a rancid smell. We knew it wasn't us this time as we had all showered before leaving the camp just outside the Delta. This horrid odour would bring about the gag reflex on even the strongest stomach. It would be comparable to a dead, rotting goat carcass.

When we inquired about the 'aroma', we found out that it was a dead, rotting goat carcass.

While we were in the Delta avoiding being trampled by a giant elephant, Willem and Richard were apparently playing, 'Pin the Truck on the Goat'. Before they met us earlier that morning, they came up quickly on a dead goat in the road and before Willem realized what it was, it was too late to swerve the large truck around it. He managed to drive over the goat, having it pass between the front two wheels just fine, but the rear dual wheels were not as lucky. Thump, Pa-Whump, Thump! The already deceased goat now had a ride round and round the huge tire of the truck. It was such a rough ride in fact, that there were hairs and (for lack of a better word) splatters left behind to stay lingering with us until it could be washed.

Mkwazi was a nice camp site right beside the Zambizi River. Our tents were set up in the short grass just above the banks. We were excited to be nice and close to the river so that we could have a beautiful view and not get out of tent to simply stare at someone elses tent. We were told later that we were NOT to go in the river as it is crocodile infested. Again, something that would have been nice to know EARLIER!

Here, we enjoyed a spectacular sunset from the floating bar and had the entire evening to relax before heading back into Botswana to the Chobe Game Park. This is supposed to be one of the best Parks in Africa to drive through and see big game. We are pumped!

Hugs and Love,
Dana and Trevor
