We arrived in Antalya at about 6:30am.  The bus ride was sensatýonal - as you may have guessed from the 'Attention!  Attention!' entry.  Both Trevor and I managed to sleep for nearly the full 8 hours.  At the front of these buses, there is a clock and temperature gage that is really quite handy.  As we were rubbing our eyes and waking up, we glanced at the clock: '6:30am'.  We glanced at the temperature: '30  degrees celsius'.   Youch.

We had been told that a shuttle bus would pick us up from the Otoguard (Bus station) When we arrived.  As we were looking for this minibus, some Turkish men asked us if they could help.  Unfortunately they did not speak any English, and we were unable to understand their questions and vice versa.  We pulled out our Lonely Planet Guide book and pointed to the area on the map of Antalya that we wanted to go.  The men right away nodded and shuffled us over to a minibus.  Within 10 minutes we were where we needed to be.  (They're so nice here!)

We checked in to our Pension and tried to cool off a bit.  We were hoping to check out the town, but it was difficult with it being in the 40s temperature wise.  Before we truly set out to see some of the city, we decided to stop for some lunch.  We chose a friendly little place just down the street.  Our waiter was very pleasant and recommended a special that they have there. It was a meter and 25cm long!  Luckily, it was flatbread and was quite thin, so we were able to eat it up without too much trouble.  He also gave us this yogurt drink as a special - it tasted nastier than bile - truly horrible.  The waiter also brought us a salad and about half a watermelon.  We didn't know how to possibly eat everything!  All of this was only 5 lira, which is just a bit less than $5 Canadian dollars.

We are quite proud of our ability to use the local transit.  We wanted to check out some waterfalls that we had heard about.  The few people we had talked to had paid anywhere from $20-30 to get there.  We (being ever-so crafy) decided to take the local bus.  It cost us a total of 2.60 liras to get there.  The waterfall was called Duden, and it was actually more of a city park.  It was quite nice and they had many areas with picnic tables set up and food vendors and such, but it wasn,t totally what we had expected.  We spent a little bit of time there before we set off to head back again.

Without much else on our agenda for the day, and after the incredible amount of walking we had done in Cappadocia, we decided to hit a movie theatre and see if there were any English movies playing.  There was just one, Wanted, and although we had seen it already, we were excited just to sit and relax with some popcorn.  So this was our evening.  Tomorrow, we will set off for Olympos.  Bring on the beach!
