Well, we're down to one more day. We drove to Munich this morning under grey skies but it was cool and comfortable all day. Our hotel in Munich is a few blocks from
Nymphenburg Palace so we toured there before checking in to our hotel. It was the summer home of Bavaria's rulers. Besides the main palace there are large gardens with several small
Palaces scattered around the park. One for bathing, one for games and recreation, one for the emperess and her ladies and one for meditation. The royal carriages and sleighs were pretty amazing.
After finding our hotel we went to a biergarten in a park to eat. David's determined to try to eat like the Germans so the waiter brought him a giant mug of beer. There was some kind of festival going on so there were vendors and rides for the kids. It was a big busy place. They drive big kegs around on forklifts and the circle the place with little trucks to pick up the dirty dishes and mugs. There were dishwashers right outside to wash
all that glassware.
It was fun to walk around and kept us from an evening of German TV. Tomorrow we tour the city then try to pack all of our purchases ready to go home. We leave Munich around 13:00 on Tuesday.
