Far more relaxed than Hanoi and in a lovely river setting.  It has a reputation for bad weather but so far it has been perfect except very hot!

Our journey here was by overnight train.  The loudest contraption we have travelled on yet but we still slept surprisingly well.

In Hue we took advantage of the more relaxed traffic to hire bicycles to cycle to the nearby Thien Mu Pagoda and have also taken a boat journey to the Minh Mang tomb which was 12km away.  The river boats here are pretty slow so it took almost two hours to get there but that was fine as we had time to take in the wonderful river scenery and the busy life on the river.  On the way  we also had a very serious batering match with the lady on our boat for some shorts that we wanted to buy.  Unfortunately she didn't have two "same same" shorts so despite agreeing on the price her supply chain let her down.  The lady did pull out about 20 pairs that she claimed were "same same" but they were all clearly not "same same".  Also a little trick that she tried while we weren't looking was to amend the label on one pair so that it was the same size as the other.  Unfortunately for her she used a different coloured pen so the gig was up...

On our last day we set out by bike again for the Elephant Temple and amphitheatre.  Our guide book said follow the paved path after a house at a particular address.  Needless to say we didn't find it but still went for a lovely ride along rice fields and past many elaborate family tombs that have been erected seemingly randomly in the countryside..
