Arrived in Myanmar
Entry 100 of 115 | show all | print this entry |
We got up at 4.15, packed, took a taxi and went to the airport, waited, got into the plane for our 7.15 flight and an hour later, we landed at Yangon!! Took a taxi to the centre and a windowless, aircon room at Daddy's House. Too bad there is no power and the aircon is useless! We walked around the city under the hot (very hot sun). Apparently we are staying close/in the Indian and Chinese neighborhouds so there are many Indians around. This city is chaotic! Everything is taking place in the sidewalks, there is traffic, polution and noise. People are friendly and we got MANY offers to change money. Got some Indian food at "New Delhi restaurant" for less than $2 and it was pretty good. Went to our room to rest but the heat inside (no power = no aircon) is unberable. At night we went to Chinatown were there is (again) a market on the sidewalks with many eateries and we had something to eat there. Got some chapaties with sugar for desert and went to bed early. The power kept coming and going all night and I got a cold from sweating (with no power) and freezing (with power) all night. I like this place... I haven't been to India but this is what I had in mind of how India looks like.
Where I stayed:
Daddy's House
